“Nominations and wins are for recognition” Phillipe Talavera

By Staff Reporter

The Kapana movie has gotten another international nomination from Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), less than two weeks after the movie had got nominated in Canada for the International Black & Diversity Film Festival (IBDFF). French writer and director Phillipe Talavera spoke to unwrap.online saying that the nominations and wins are mostly for recognition as they don’t come with any cash prizes.

“Those nominations and wins are mostly for recognition. Sadly they don’t come with a cash prize but it helps at many levels like being recognized, getting to be known, which later helps to try and secure new funding for next projects. That’s actually probably the most important outcome,” he stated.

He also added that maybe one day he will be able to generate more income in order to attract the attention of various distribution channels such as Netflix and Amazon. The OYO dance director mentioned that they are working on recording one of their dance pieces titled ‘Ania’.

“We had planned on organizing a youth performing arts festival in the Kharas region and working with the Noordower youth group. Other projects are in the pipeline but so much depends on funding and regulations that it is a little bit difficult,” he stated.
