There’s no doubt that to her fans, Oteya’s latest single titled ‘Closer’ is a banger of a song proving time and again that her golden voice is here to stay.
For years the winning formula has always been her ability to write love songs and so releasing it on Valentines day was quite convinient.The song itself is mide-tempo with a rather predictable but catchy African lead guitar melody and soft hitting high hats with a bass guitar tune that can have you swinging your head left and right.
But that’s pretty much it, her voice and lyrics are what essentially adds flare which can give the listener a sense of genuine longing for a significant other.
The music visualizer fairly suites the song with the main undertones of the visuals being the color red, low yellow lighting and candels in the background with a classic retro dynamic microphone as the main prop, which blends well with the theme of the song.
But nothing out of the ordinary catches the eye and it seems that Oteya is staying well within her own lane and is in her comfort zone.
Her mature sound is what she intends to stick with as she explained in an article released a fews weeks ago.
If this is a precursor to her upcoming album titled ‘Shades of Me’ then one should not expect to be blown away, but one can never count there’s chickens before they hatch.
