Fans of local Namibian artist, Kaboy Kamakili, were astonished last week when they read a message on the artist’s social media accounts claiming he was quitting music and going back to school instead as the music industry is difficult to be in.
The post reads as follows “Hello my people, I’m quitting music , I have given up , the industry is ubungozi ,umona wabo. Exit okwati (SHUNENI KOSKOLA UUMENU NYE NGE INAMTOLA) so I’m going back oshiima mboli kashipu.Thanks to everyone who supported @kaboy_kamakili 🤟”
Contacted for a response, Kamakili stated that he would never give up music. “I didn’t quit doing music because someone gained access to my social media accounts in order to disseminate false information about me resigning, and I can’t modify or do anything about it because the person keeps changing passwords, but the truth is that I’m not quitting,” he stated.
Luckily, one can avoid this with preemptive steps such as creating the long, unique and impossible password to guess and securing your emails.
Artists’ accounts being hacked has become commonplace these days, and Kamakili isn’t the only Namibian celebrity whose account has been hacked . Robyn Nakaambo, King Tee Dee, and Sally Boss Madam are among the celebrities whose Instagram accounts have been hacked
