Oktoberfest countdown begins

There might be no beer in heaven but there is going to be plenty at SKW this weekend!

Oktoberfest is celebrated originally in Germany but ensures that the Windhoek version will be every bit as authentic as the original in Germany.

Making its way to Namibia for two days of music, games, excellent Namibian beer, live performances by a band from Germany and traditional German food.

The event is supported by Jägermeister Bass Cartel and Die Broers while entertainment will be provided by the annual Windhoek Oktoberfest official band, the Kirchdorfer ensemble from Munich, Germany. The newly crowned Bavarian Bierkönigin (Bavarian Beer Queen) also will be making her way to the two days.

Move over, Oktoberfest activities and games will include Stamm-sägen (Log-Sawing) and Bierstemmen (Beer-Lifting) to mechanical bull rides and demonstrations of the Schuhplattler, a traditional Bavarian folk dance.

The festival will be held at the Sport Klub Windhoek and will take place from 25 to 26 October 2019. Entry at the gate will be N$ 190 for adults, N$ 50 for ages between 12 to 18 while children under the age of 12 will have free entry. Tickets will also be available on the festival official website for N$ 140
