Standard Bank Namibia Hosts Inspirational High Tea Event Celebrating International Women’s Day

Standard Bank Namibia hosted a vibrant high tea event on Saturday, March 16th, in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event, held a week after the official date of International Women’s Day, was graced by the presence of Zozibini Tunzi, the former Miss Universe 2019.

Khadijah Mouton, Senior Copywriter at Standard Bank Namibia, expressed her excitement about the event, stating,

“We had our celebration a week after [International Women’s Day] to bring Zozibini and the event was under the International Women’s Day theme as well, which is inspiring inclusivity.”

Reflecting on Tunzi’s impact, Mouton added that they believed that she was the perfect person to be the face of this message.

“Of course, she is the former Miss Universe 2019, so she’s a, she’s, people love her, ladies love her. A lot of people are so inspired by her.” Mouton said

The event featured a panel discussion with esteemed speakers from various industries, including Dr. Esperance Luvindao , Patience Manzi, and Tunzi herself. The panelists shared insights on inclusivity in their respective fields, emphasizing the importance of diversity and representation.

“When we look at someone that’s almost so larger than life as who they are with their brand and who they stand for, and someone who’s so beautiful, I don’t think we always could imagine the actual obstacles that people like that also face.” She said

Mouton also said that the proceeds from the event will support the Buy a Brick Initiative, which is Standard Bank Namibia’s flagship program in collaboration with the Shack Dwellers Federation. The initiative aims to eradicate shacks in Namibia and provide brick houses to all Namibians, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

The theme of the event, “Shades of Blue with a Do So,” infused an African twist into the traditional high tea setting. Attendees adorned themselves with colorful dooks, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the occasion.

Mouton concluded that the event fostered meaningful conversations around our purpose in life and the importance of building communities for women by women, where they can push each other to excel.

The high tea event served as a platform for inspiration, empowerment, and collective growth, leaving attendees uplifted and motivated to effect positive change in their communities.
