The melodious combination of Keetmanshoop finest voices alongside a much-needed message of hope through the We Are The World cover that circulated on various social media platforms has successfully sent healing amidst this pandemic.
The video that has over 19K views on YouTube was an idea of Bessie McKay.
“One morning I contacted two members of the acapella group and asked them to get me a group of youngsters together cause I wanted to start this project. In two days, we had 57 members that were interested, and the song choice was obvious because the world is in a crucial state due of Covid-19,” said McKay.
Choosing the artists was a no-brainer because he knew exactly what he wanted and whose voice would suit the part.
“To be honest, the current feeling that people share has passed our initial expectation, we just wanted those who are physically affected to feel consoled and know that we care,” said McKay.
He added that fusing all the talents was interesting, exciting and easy as they only spend three days to master the rehearsals and recording.
“The outcome on YouTube was unexpected, to say the least,” said McKay.
