Yeezir Cuts Ties With YNOT Records

One of Namibia’s most recognizable young music stars, Yeezir, has announced that he is moving into a new chapter of his career, seemingly bringing an end to his relationship with YNOT Records after several years of growth under the label.

In a statement shared on social media, the singer thanked the team behind YNOT Records for helping him build his career and create what he described as “unforgettable moments.”

“Through YNOT Records I was able to live my dream and create unforgettable moments,” he wrote, while assuring supporters that he remains focused on growth and continuing to release music.

While Yeezir did not explicitly state the reason on why he has left the label, the announcement, coupled with the publication of new booking and business contact details, strongly suggests a significant professional transition.

The move marks the end of a partnership that helped shape one of the most successful breakout acts of Namibia’s post-lockdown music generation.Yeezir, born Kondjashili Abel, signed to YNOT Records early in his career, with reports of the partnership emerging around 2020.

At the time, he was a promising newcomer looking to establish himself in the local industry. Over the years, YNOT Records became closely associated with his rise.

The label released several of his biggest records, including “Question of the Day,” “Pretty Vibes” featuring Ms Gideon, “Body Do,” “Ballers,” “Finish You” and the smash hit “Wanaheda.”

The partnership also extended beyond Yeezir as YNOT developed a broader music collective featuring artists and creatives such as DJ Castro, Ms Gideon and Kalhi. In 2024, the group released the collaborative project That’s Just How We Roll, showcasing the label’s ambition to build a collective identity rather than focus on a single act.

For many fans, YNOT Records and Yeezir became almost inseparable. The label’s platforms heavily promoted his music and helped turn songs such as “Wanaheda” into major local successes. The music video alone amassed well over a million views online, further cementing his place among Namibia’s leading young artists.

The label also played a role in the release of Yeezir’s debut album, 21, which arrived in 2023 and was widely regarded as a defining moment in his career. The project featured collaborations with some of Namibia’s biggest names and demonstrated the commercial potential of a new generation of local artists.

His departure comes at a time when the singer appears increasingly focused on personal and artistic growth.

Earlier this year, Yeezir described himself as entering a new phase, one centered less on being “the loudest person in the room” and more on learning, maturity and building a sustainable career.

He has also become more vocal about professionalism within the music industry and the need for artists to develop strong business foundations.

For now, neither Yeezir nor YNOT Records has publicly provided further details on what prompted the change or what comes next.

What is clear, however, is that the artist leaves behind a catalogue of hits and a label partnership that helped transform him from a lockdown-era newcomer into one of Namibia’s most bankable young performers.

As fans speculate about his next move, the announcement signals the start of a fresh chapter for both Yeezir and the label that helped launch his career.
