Entrepreneur, creative director and theatre practitioner Veronique Kuchekena-Chirau is officially launching her latest theatre production entitled ‘BONES RISING’ between the 4th and 9th of October at the Katutura Community Arts Centre (KCAC). The project includes the development of theatre production with a participatory approach as well as a multimedia performance.
According to Kuchekena-Chirau, the overall objective is to tackle fundamental historical ignorances that are amplifying traumas such as genocide, slavery, poverty and displacement. The project which targets young children aged between six and 16, intends to create audience-friendly and low-threshold storytelling techniques based on an innovative and participatory interface.
“BONES RISING’’ will make use of the famous Namibian folk tale, Human Bones, in order to create an innovative and contemporary form of storytelling by using physical theatre, sound design and new media such as stills, motion visuals and augmented reality techniques,” she said.
The project is supported by various art institutions which include Namibian, German, Zimbabwean and Cameroonian institutions.
“The artistic result will illustrate a cross-disciplinary perspective, allowing a corporation of manifold analytical practice as well as artistic experiences in the framework of New Media Anthropological Diplomacy,” she ended.
