Empowering the Kavango regions and uniting Namibia.
Scheduled to take place on 20 April, the Ngandu Music and Arts Festival is a platform for Kavango regions to promote, sell and grow their businesses. According to one of the organizers Hafeni Namwira, the idea is that the event brings the Kavango community and all Namibians together to showcase and celebrate local various creative art forms.
“The goal is for the festival to be an annual event that will entrust all the planning, controlling and execution of the event to the Kavango youth through a mentorship empowerment programme. Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds from the event will be given to a charity organization of the community’s choosing,” said Namwira.
The festival is scheduled to take place at the Rundu Sports Stadium starting at 9H00 until late. Namwira further said the festival will aim to emphasize the arts of Kavango in the aim of capitalizing on the creative nature of its people.
“The art aspect of the festival has to be emphasized because for the longest time it has gone unnoticed and undervalued. This is also because arts largely portray who and what the two Kavango regions stand for and how they blend with the rest of Namibia. From sketch artists to painters, to the renowned woodcarvers of Kavango, this is a platform created for them to show everyone their art form along with every other prominent art form,” he said.
Apart from a great artist line-up, festival goers can expect a great array of activities including good food, fun sports activities for all age groups, a fun kiddies area for the all children and outstanding service from all our exhibitors.
