21-year-old Windhoek born musician and songwriter, Ms. Gideon, is set to represent Namibia on one of the world’s most famous stages—the Apollo Theater in New York. After winning a social media competition hosted by Next Narrative Africa, she will be performing at this iconic venue, a major milestone for her burgeoning career.
Ms. Gideon, known for her soulful music and recent debut album ‘5-Star’, expressed her overwhelming joy about the opportunity. “You are never too young to go for what you want. Is it me? I’m going to start crying, I’m so overwhelmed by joy,” she said.
This remarkable achievement is part of her involvement with Next Narrative Africa, a multimedia entertainment company focused on promoting African and African Diasporic stories. The company, founded by Akunna Cook, aims to shift the narrative about Africa through the creation and production of content that highlights the continent’s creativity and economic progress.
Ms. Gideon will take the stage at The Bridge, an event hosted by Next Narrative Africa that will feature major African stars like Adekunle Gold and Patoranking. This concert, celebrating African creativity and narratives, will coincide with global discussions around leadership and innovation, making Ms. Gideon’s performance at the Apollo an event to watch.
