Moving for a Healthier Future
Physical activity is key to preventing diabetes and hypertension. Namibian youth often lead busy lives, but finding time for regular exercise is critical to staying healthy.
You don’t need to be an athlete or go to a gym. Simple activities like walking, dancing, playing soccer, or cycling can help. The goal is to get at least 30 minutes of moderate activity most days of the week. Exercise helps your body regulate blood sugar and lowers your blood pressure, reducing the chances of developing diabetes and hypertension.
Physical activity also helps you maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight is one of the biggest risk factors for these diseases, but regular exercise can help control weight and boost energy levels. It also improves your mental health, which is important in managing stress—a contributing factor to hypertension.
The key is to make movement a fun part of your daily routine. Whether it’s walking to school or joining a community sports team, staying active is crucial for a healthier future.
