Award-winning musician TopCheri last week took to social media, on a post stating that she had quit music for good however she made a quick u-turn on her statement, saying that the post was triggered by a wave of depression. According to the deleted post, she has accomplished what she wanted to, which includes releasing albums that have garnered millions of views and gongs at the Namibian Annual Music Awards.
In the lengthy post that was shared yesterday, the Danisa singer said it was a moment of weakness and that she is not about to quit music at all.
“Nobody wants to talk about it, I guess because in Namibia mental health is a “sensitive issue”, so nobody wants to talk about it, so nobody wants to get help because daai is wit mense se goete,” She said.
“I apologise to all my fans who is a was devastated by the news. I apologize and can gracefully say I will not be quitting. You wake up every day telling yourself that “you got this!”, waking up crying for no reason, you update your status “The Girl is Awake” followed by a picture with a “happy caption”! You need to portray that you are happy. It tells you that nobody loves you, nobody likes you and nobody needs you. So you distance yourself, you go further, and further and further. Still, with your phone in your hand, you wipe your tears and deny the pain, you deny the anger. You go out in the world smiling,” She wrote.
