In a now viral video that is being circulated on social media, veteran kwaito musician Legg-Ghetto is seen standing at the Gammas river bridge in Khomasdal, praising the newly appointed Mayor of Windhoek, Job Amupanda, giving credit to him for the recent above average rains that the country has been receiving.
“Can you see how the river is flowing, this is a miracle and this only happened when Job became mayor. God is on Jobs’ side and God is on the whole Namibia,” Legg-Ghetto said.
He continued flattering Amupanda saying that soon everyone will have land and a house to stay in. The video naturally made its rounds and eventually found itself on Amupanda’s Twitter where he reacted writing
“Dear Residents. God BLESS Windhoek and her Residents, including our Animals! Regards, Your Mayor,”
According to a statement released by the Mayor, the heavy downpour and imminent flood has promoted a multidisciplinary team comprising officials of the Windhoek City Police, the human settlement, roads and storm-water department, and the emergency and disaster risk-management department in the Office of the Prime Minister are regularly engaging relevant stakeholders to mitigate the immediate risks and relocate communities from flood-risk areas to higher grounds.
