A question asked by most of my fans. I had so much content and so many places for this character to go but one Friday I picked up my son from school and he was in tears. I asked him what happened and he said dad you know I am a strong one, but today my best friend said you are gay he saw you on TV, wearing a dress. I asked if it bothered you and he said yes because they are talking about my father. I asked him if he wants me to stop dressing up and he said:
“Yes please, I know it’s your job but, I am losing a friend dad,” he said.
As a father, I had to choose to entertain you or to educate my boy and I chose to be on his side as he is not ready. My character had a promising future but my boy’s development as a human and as a man is more important to me as a parent. I chose to cut the character with a pending theatre play and movie that was sponsored as my son stood by me to date and that’s all I needed.
I am sorry for everybody who wanted to see this character live and followed this character, the character meant a lot to me too because it was an imitation of my late sister. I had to make the hardest decision and it broke me as a performer and a human but it set me in much creative space. I have 12 episodes of Oucie Regulinde unreleased, might never be but I am so thankful for everyone who supported and celebrated my late sister through me.
