OYO short films set to premier in Nigeria

The Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) is slowly growing a reputation for shedding a light on gender roles and the importance of LGBTQ rights in Namibia. After the success of their previous two short films ‘Salute’ and ‘Kapana’ which scooped numerous film awards around the African continent and the world, two additional OYO short films have been selected to be screened at the Coal City Film Festival.

This was announced in a short post on their Facebook page.

“‘Be a lady’ and ‘Be a man’ have been selected at the Coal City Film Festival in Nigeria.The Festival founded by African Avant-garde filmmaker and Screenwriter, Uche Agbo, is an Okike Media initiative with the goal of serving as the gateway to the heart of tourist potentials of South East Nigeria.

CCFF as the festival is fondly called is proud to provide activities that foster an appreciation of the art of film as well as educate International, local and regional filmmakers, students of film, the broader arts community, and the general public. It’s an opportunity for independent filmmakers and the art community at large to celebrate the beauty of the art of cinema.

Congratulations to all involved, we are bringing discussion about gender and gender roles to many places,” the caption read.
