Kino Namibia ready to take off this August and here is what you can expect.
Having started in 2017, Kino Namibia, a platform for directors, actors and editors alike in the film industry is ready for this year’s event. Slated for 24-26 August, the three day festival is organized as part of an international movement called KinoKabaret and was held in Namibia for the first time in 2017. The main goal is to bring together talents out of the media field – professionals and amateurs – that form groups and produce short local stories within 48 hours.
KinoNamibia is a film hub project under The Namibia Film Commission, for international filmmakers to share multiple ideas in a short time.
The three-day festival will start off where the participants will meet for the first time on the first day, they will form groups on the first day and will be filming for two days.
On day three, the participants will then put the videos together. On the same day, all films will be shown at a public screening at the Auditorium of Goethe-Institut.
In a recent post on their social media pages, the organizers urged members of the public to come out in numbers to appreciate filming and what it can do.
“With filming, you can make anything believable, see how our minions show us how it’s done. Do you have an idea of a story you want to film with a team? Join us at Kino Namibia.”
This year’s festival is made possible with sponsorship by the Namibia Film Commission, FNB Namibia, Cramers Ice-Cream, Goethe-Institut Namibia and One Africa TV.
