Myths You Shouldn’t Believe
There are many misconceptions about diabetes and hypertension that prevent people, especially young Namibians, from taking the necessary steps to protect their health. One common myth is that these diseases only affect older people. In reality, poor lifestyle choices at a young age can lead to early onset diabetes and hypertension.
Another myth is that you can’t do anything if you have a family history of these diseases. While genetics play a role, lifestyle choices like a healthy diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking can significantly lower your risk.
Some also believe that once you get diabetes or hypertension, it’s too late to make changes. This isn’t true. Both conditions can be managed with proper lifestyle adjustments and medical care.
It’s important for Namibian youth to understand that they have the power to control their health. Don’t let myths hold you back from making positive changes.
